Dr. Steven Hayes
Dr. Hayes is an Emeritus Professor of Psychology at the University of Nevada, Reno, and President of the Institute for Better Health. He is renowned for developing Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), an evidence-based psychotherapy that integrates mindfulness, acceptance, and values-driven methods to enhance psychological flexibility. Dr. Hayes is also the originator of Relational Frame Theory (RFT), a comprehensive framework for understanding human cognition and language. In collaboration with Dr. Stefan G. Hofmann, he co-edited Process-Based CBT: The Science and Core Clinical Competencies of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, a groundbreaking text that reimagines psychotherapy through the lens of core biopsychosocial processes rather than rigid diagnostic categories. Throughout his prolific career, he has authored 47 books and over 675 scientific articles, contributing significantly to the fields of behavior analysis and psychotherapy. His dedication to advancing psychological science has earned him numerous accolades, including the Nevada Regents’ Researcher Award and fellowship status with the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
